Volunteer & Job Skills Group

This 4-week Volunteer & Job Communication Skills Group is designed for teens and young adults (ages 16+) who benefit from direct instruction, guided practice, and real-world application in a supportive, structured setting.

Through discussion, role-play, workplace scenarios, and community-based experiences, participants will work on:

  • Professional communication and workplace expectations
  • Initiating conversations with supervisors and coworkers
  • Asking for clarification and problem-solving in the moment
  • Reading social cues in job and volunteer settings
  • Teamwork and flexibility
  • Self-advocacy and expressing needs appropriately

What makes this group unique is the opportunity for immediate generalization. In addition to weekly in-office sessions, participants will apply their skills during supported community volunteer experiences with guidance from a Speech-Language Pathologist.

Volunteer Experiences Include:

  • Filling in the Blanks (Norwalk) – Saturday, July 18
  • Ridgefield Southwest Café Margarita 5K – Saturday, July 25

Step Up to High School Social & Communication Group is designed for incoming high school students who benefit from direct instruction, guided practice, and real-life scenarios in a supportive, structured setting as they prepare for the transition to high school.

Through discussion, role-play, and school-based scenarios, participants will work on:

• Starting and maintaining conversations with new peers
• Making friends and joining social groups
• Participating in group work and class discussions
• Self-advocating with teachers and asking for help when needed
• Problem-solving common social situations at school
• Understanding high school expectations and increasing independence

What makes this group unique is the focus on preparing students before high school begins. Participants will practice strategies they can immediately use when meeting new classmates, navigating social situations, and communicating effectively in the classroom.

Wednesdays July 8 – July 29 | 5:30–6:30 PM|$300

High School Boot Camp (4-Day Intensive):
August 17–20 | 5:30–6:30 PM | $300

This group is ideal for students who want to enter high school feeling more confident, prepared, and ready to connect with others.

Executive Function & Communication Tools for Teens and Young Adults

This virtual group is designed for high school students in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York who want practical tools to stay organized, get things done, and communicate more effectively in school and everyday life.

Students will learn how to use powerful digital tools to support planning, task management, routines, and communication—skills that are essential for high school, college, and future jobs. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to use tools like digital calendars, reminders, task-planning apps, and AI tools to break down assignments, manage responsibilities, and stay on top of deadlines.

Participants will work on:

• Using digital calendars and reminders to manage schedules and deadlines
• Breaking down assignments and tasks using planning tools and AI supports
• Creating routines for school, homework, and daily responsibilities
• Planning things like trips, packing lists, and meals using digital tools
• Writing clear emails and messages to teachers, coworkers, and peers
• Building strategies to become more organized, independent, and confident
